You Don't Have To Eat Like A "Broke College Student"...
Okay now, yes there is a such thing as being a broke college student.
But when it comes to food that is one thing I am blessed not to be deprived of.
Yes, you can actually have meal, drinks, and snack that are healthy and taste good.
No, you DO NOT have to survive on Ramen Noodles as a college student, personally in my opinion that is a myth.
I think this post will be very helpful because within my three years of college I've noticed a lot of people DO NOT know how to grocery shop and they unfortunately, end up wasting a lot of money
So here are my tips:
I personally shop weekly, because I am a picky person and I don't buy anything I know I won't eat.
Make sure you always have your basic/non-perishable goods
Can Milk
Can Soup (Progresso, this brand is good)
Pasta Noodles
Hot Cereals
Rice
Cereal
Granola
Nuts
Crakers
Nut Butter
Dried Beans
Pancake Mix
Jelly
Canned fish (tuna or salmon)
Seasonings
Bottled Water
Eggs
Milk
Cheese
Just having these staple ingredients above there are many recipes you can make!
You buy what is on sale, honestly if its not on that weeks sales ad... you can wait lol!
Grocery Savings app:
Ibotta (use my code xymfhlj ) for a $10 welcome bonus
Flipp
With Ibotta, depending on what you buy you can get rebates on you groceries and once you reach you limit of $20 you can cash out your earnings. So sometimes you can shop and get paid for doing it :)
With Flipp, you are able to see all sales ads on your mobile device, so there is no waiting to see whats on sale or flipping through the paper while shopping. With Flipp I love how they also have coupons that you can link to your loyalty program card. So you never have to worry about switching form app to app to load your coupons. I also love that your grocery list is made instantly with the clipping feature.
Next, figure out what are your favorite stores. For example mines are:
Kroger, They always have great 10 for 10 sales, or buy 5 save 5, and they also have free Fridays and that's when you can download their app and every Friday with the downloaded coupon you get that weeks feature item. And the BIGGEST PLUS IS GASSS POINTTSS. You get points for shopping there and you can get up 10 cents off a gallon (that goes a long way)
Aldi, They will never fail you it will always be cheap there and most of the items there are Aldi's brands; but that doesn't change how good it is considering that it is not a '"name brand" item
Sprouts, I LOVE Sprouts for their produce and many people think their expensive, but they're really not... you know why?....let me hear 'BECAUSE YOU BUY WHAT'S ON SALE' that's right you got it ;)
Now I'm going to leave you with this gem some many know and some may not, but pleaassee do not sleep on the 99 cent store or Dollar Tree. Many of your groceries and snacks can come from here. You most likely will not be able to find meat, but everything else yes! Also I know that the 99 cent store has produce, but Dollar Tree does not at least where i'm located. Another thing whoever you support system is just ask them if they can stock up on your favorite snacks, so that you always have a package to take back to school :)
I really hoped you learned something, and you can always come back to see what recipes I make.
