My Experience Getting Netra Tharpanam

So I did a thing I am so excited to share with you all! I now have an Ayurveda doctor and I'm getting nethra tharpanam!

What is Ayurveda?

Ayurveda is holistic care that originated in India more than 3,000 years ago. In Ayurveda it is believed that if you maintain balance between your mind, body and environment you can have an optimal life.

What is Netra Tharpanam?

Netra Tharpanam is an eye therapy. To begin the process a paste barrier will be placed around your eye region and once it is sealed an herbal medicated ghee will be placed over your eyes.

My eyes are very important to me because I've always had poor vision. When I found out about netra tharpanam I knew I was the perfect candidate based on the benefits which are relieving stress from the eyes, eliminating eye irritation, clearer vision, strengthening the optic nerve and much much more. In some cases people that have done netra tharpanam on a consistent basis have improved their vision and no longer need glasses. In my case if that happens PRAISE GOD that’s AMAZING but my current main focus is making sure my eyes are healthy and decreasing my chance for declining vision. Also, I’m a remote worker and I know the computer/ phone screen really puts stress on my eyes.

Upon receiving my first treatment I was experiencing really bad eye irritation. Both of my eyes but mainly my left eye was extremely irritated. It always felt like something was in it, it would burn out of nowhere and start watering. I did my first session last Thursday and since that day I have not had any eye irritation and afterward my eyes felt very lubricated. It’s become common for them to always be dry and I noticed the difference immediately.

Before seeing your Ayurveda doctor you will have a consultation to go over everything pertaining to the service you will be receiving. They will ask about your concerns, how it has impacted you, your lifestyle, eating habits, your health goals, stress levels etc. Also, please keep in mind this is not something quick like a traditional western doctor. They are really invested in your overall health– that is the point of Ayurveda practices.

Below are some Ayurveda herbs it was suggested that I take:

Neem: is a great blood purifier, great for vision, good for inflammation, digestion, skin, bloating and cramping….

Triphala: good for strengthening eye muscles, great for immunity and digestion, reduces inflammation, aids in weight loss and breaks down fat….

Amla: helps preserve eyesight, an amazing source of vitamin c which is essential for eye health, fights infection and improves immunity, great for skin ….

How I take the supplements:

Neem: 1 morning and 1 night

Triphala: 1 morning and 2 night

Amla: 1 morning and 2 night

With warm water.

I also have to do eye exercises twice a day. The arrow indicates how I move my eyes and I do this 10 times each direction. Eye exercises helps to relieve stress from the eyes, improves concentration, helps with dry eyes, relaxes you and improves vision. Just as with any exercise to see results you must exercise your eye consistently.

Also, I was given eye drops to use twice a day and recommended to use an herbal eye rinse that consists of coriander and triphala.

Nethra Tharpanam, is something I'm very pleased with and will continue my session. The practice makes sense and aligns with my lifestyle which is very important to me. I will continue to share my Ayurveda journey and if you are interested in knowing what Ayurveda doctor I recommend please don’t hesitate to reach out to me.

Disclaimer: Please be advised that I am sharing this information to share my experience only. I mention these things because they are important to me and I believe it is information we can all learn from.
