Hotel RL Brooklyn New York
One of my favorite things to do is watch people live their best lives, and travel the world. Literally, my self-care includes watching travel TikTok and Youtube videos. Especially content from black girls in their 20-somethings because it’s relatable. I have itineraries already planned, I’m just ready to start discovering.
My first “trip trip” this year was to go to New York. Anyone that knows me will tell you it’s my favorite city. There’s something about the energy, people, creativity, and much more. I had a credit with SouthWest and I was tired of it sitting there so I booked my flight for a week!
Hotel RL has an outside patio with plenty of art, perfect for content or just to chill!
My first task was finding an aesthetically nice yet affordable place to stay for the week. Now we are talking about New York so ‘nice and affordable’ is a little difficult. Honestly everywhere had mixed reviews, even Hotel RL. I’m a sucker for good customer service so that’s ultimately how I made my decision. When I called I was advised to look on Agoda or Hotel Tonight for late-night deals. I found just that on Agoda, I booked my room for 4-nights it had a queen size bed and day bed for $505.04. This price includes the 20% sale and an additional 3% that was given during checkout. Also, Agoda has a reward system, and by booking this room I received $5.18 in AgodaCash. When you check-in there is a $100 incidental fee BUT this is where they get you. There is also a $15/day resort fee…CHILD WHAT RESORT? I believe that includes the hot tea and WIFI.
I arrived at the hotel maybe 2-hours before check-in and I was able to check in early. Hotel RL is really small so when I got off the elevator it was like okayyyy. When I entered the room it looked exactly like the pictures I had seen online. The first thing I do in any hotel is disinfect the room. For transparency, I can tell they rushed with cleaning the rooms. They definitely didn’t sweep, and they most likely re tucked the sheets because there was hair all in the bed. Hair being in the bed was a deal-breaker, but the staff did promptly apologize and provided me with new sheets. I did not ask for them to re-make the bed, because I wanted to ensure new sheets were being replaced. Honestly, after that experience, I highly considered bringing my own sheet. I already bring my own pillowcase–so why not!
Other than this I can’t complain about the place! One thing I didn't know before getting to the hotel is that it’s a bar and hotel. At night you can go downstairs to hang out, drink, and dance. Also during the day remote workers are there doing their thing!
If you will be visiting NY soon I hope this blog post helps you on your adventure, and as for me, I can’t wait to get back to the city!
